Cancellation Policy

At Forestside Dental Practice, we have had to introduce a deposit for non-attendance without notice and a cancellation charge policy.

The receptionist will ask you for a deposit as set out below when you book an appointment with the dentist and/or hygienist and this deposit will then be deducted from your bill for the relevant treatment.


For all dental and hygiene appointments, the following deposits are payable in advance:

  • for appointments lasting up to 30 minutes - £30
  • for appointments lasting up to 1 hour - £60
  • for appointments lasting longer than 1 hour - £100

NB: for special appointments such as cosmetic dentistry, implants or endodontics, the deposit required will be detailed in the treatment plan given to you by your treating dentist.


The Practice requires at least 48 hours’ notice if you wish to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If we receive less than 48 hours’ notice of a cancellation or you do not attend for your appointment without sufficient notice, the deposit will be forfeit.

We normally send out four separate messages to confirm and remind you about your appointment:

  • An initial appointment confirmation
  • A reminder email four weeks prior to the appointment
  • A second reminder email one week before the appointment
  • A text notification three days before the appointment

Please check with the receptionist that we have your up-to-date contact details and advise us of any changes.

If you do not provide 48 hours’ notice of cancellation or fail to attend without giving notice, it is very difficult for us to re-book your slot so we are unlikely to be able to treat another patient in your place. If the team is not treating patients, the surgery stands idle but still incurs running costs. However, if your appointment slot is subsequently filled by another patient, we will refund your deposit. In the event of late cancellations or missed appointments, we will always try to remain sensitive to personal circumstances so do please explain any reasons to our reception team.


Pre-paid and on-going Treatments:

Some appointments do not incur charges. Examples of these would be a review or a pre-paid appointment but late cancellations and no-shows still result in a loss of chair-time. For such appointments, we reserve the right to apply a late cancellation fee for the same amount as the deposits set out in the above list. This fee will need to be settled before re-scheduling or booking additional appointments.
